Funding for dr hab. Karolina Archacka’s project in the Medical Research Agency’s TRANSMED I competition

Dr hab. Karolina Archacka from the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw, received PLN 10,039,559 in funding in the Medical Research Agency’s TRANSMED I competition for a project focused on developing a protocol using functionalized peptide hydrogels to support skeletal muscle reconstruction.

A new diagnostic platform for parasitic diseases in dogs

Dr hab. Anna Zawistowska-Deniziak and Dr Eng. Mateusz Pękacz are co-authors of a project funded under the FENG funds in NCBR SMART competition. The aim of the project is to develop a test for the simultaneous detection of pathogens associated with dirofilariasis and leishmaniasis in dogs.

The University of Warsaw Open Day is coming on 18 April!

We invite you to the University of Warsaw Open Day, which will take place on 18 April 2026 at the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw, located at 26/28 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street. Meeting with candidates interested in studying at the Faculty of Biology will take place at 12:00 in Lecture Hall B of the Auditorium Maximum.

Dean’s Awards of the Faculty of Biology for the most frequently cited articles

For the third time, the Dean of the Faculty of Biology has granted awards for articles with the highest number of citations. This year, publications published in 2019 and 2020 were taken into consideration. In total, three papers authored by our researchers were awarded.

Eight of our researchers honored with the Rector’s Distinctions

On 5 March, at the Kazimierzowski Palace of the University of Warsaw, the Rector’s Distinctions were awarded to: Prof. Anna Bajer, Prof. Łukasz Drewniak, Prof. Bogdan Jaroszewicz, Prof. Marta Szulkin, Dr Tomasz Kamiński, Dr Lidia Lipińska-Zubrycka, Dr Piotr Maszczyk, and Dr Anna Podgórska-Grzybowska.

Grant Team Net FENG from the Foundation for Polish Science

The BIOGLOBE project, carried out by a consortium led by the University of Warsaw, received funding in the FNP TEAM NET competition. The principal investigator is Prof. Łukasz Drewniak. Congratulations!

Award from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for significant achievements in implementation activities

The award of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in the category of implementation activities, was received by a team of researchers from the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw: Dr Klaudia Dębic-Andrzejewska (team leader), Prof. Łukasz Drewniak, Dr Namrata Joshi, Marcin Musiałowski, MA, and Maria Dąbrowska-Zawada, MA.
