Historical Section
The 200th anniversary celebrations of the University of Warsaw and the exhibition ‘Presences. In the Circle of Memory – People, Places, Memories’ organized in November 2016 were the impetus for the creation of the Historical Section of the Faculty of Biology.
The main task of the Section is to collect, organize, and process historical materials related to the activities of the Faculty of Biology. The guiding idea for all the Section’s activities is to preserve the memory of the people and places that have shaped the Faculty since its inception. In order to keep the memory of past individuals and events related to the Faculty alive and lasting, the Section will make its materials available not only in the form of cataloged archives but also through specially organized lectures, exhibitions, concerts, radio dramas, or film screenings. An important task of the Section will also be the preparation of occasional monographs and articles. The founders’ vision is for the Section to be not only the custodian of the Faculty’s memorabilia but also an interactive link between the Faculty’s past and its present.
We warmly invite all those interested in working with the Section or wishing to share their memories and memorabilia with us to cooperate.
