Dr hab. Karolina Archacka receives funding for a project in the Medical Research Agency’s TRANSMED I competition

The Medical Research Agency has announced the results of the competition for the development of research and development projects in the field of translational medicine – TRANSMED I. Among the projects recommended for funding is the University of Warsaw project entitled “Development of protocol based on functionalized peptide hydrogels supporting skeletal muscle reconstruction”, led by Dr. habili. Karolina Archacka from the Department of Cytology, Institute of Developmental Biology and Biomedical Sciences. The project received funding of PLN 10,039,559.

As part of the project, the team will work on developing a protocol using functionalized peptide hydrogels to support skeletal muscle reconstruction. The research falls within the field of translational medicine and may contribute to the development of new strategies supporting muscle tissue regeneration.

The project will be carried out by a team of researchers from the Department of Cytology: dr habili. Edyta Brzóska-Wójtowicz; Prof. Maria Anna Ciemerych-Litwinienko; dr habili. Iwona Grabowska-Kowalik; dr habili. Małgorzata Zimowska-Wypych; Władysława Stremińska, MSc; and Katarzyna Jańczyk-Ilach.

PROJECT INFORMATION SHEET

PROJECT FINANCED FROM THE STATE BUDGET through the Medical Research Agency

Call name: Call for the development of research and development projects in the field of translational medicine – TRANSMED I (ABM/2024/8)

Project title: “Development of protocol based on functionalized peptide hydrogels supporting skeletal muscle reconstruction”

Principal Investigator: Dr hab. Karolina Archacka

Funding amount: PLN 10,039,559

Total project value: PLN 10,039,559

Project description: The aim of the project is to develop a protocol using functionalized peptide hydrogels to support skeletal muscle regeneration. The outcomes may be of key importance to, among others, older adults, patients with neuromuscular diseases and cancer, as well as athletes recovering from injuries. This may contribute to improving the quality of life of a broad group of beneficiaries and reducing therapy-related costs.
