Fascination of Plants Day at the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw
19 05 2026
On 18 May 2026, the Faculty of Biology at the University of Warsaw once again celebrated the International Fascination of Plants Day, also known locally as “Dzień Badyla”. In 2026, the eighth edition of this international initiative is being held.
The International Fascination of Plants Day is a global initiative organised under the patronage of the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO). Its aim is to popularise knowledge about plants and highlight their importance for human life, biodiversity conservation, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, food production and sustainable development.
As part of the event, thematic lectures were prepared and made available online. The opening lecture was delivered by Dr Danuta Solecka, University Professor, the organiser of “Dzień Badyla”, and was entitled “In vitro plant cultures — the use of plants and biodiversity conservation”.
