Symposium “DYRK1A – Science Brings People Together”

On 21 February, during Rare Disease Month, the symposium “DYRK1A – Science Brings People Together” will take place at the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw, in Lecture Hall 9B.

DYRK1A syndrome is a severe, incurable neurodevelopmental disorder. The event will be an opportunity to start a dialogue between patients, doctors, representatives of foundations, and scientists from around the world.

During the meeting, participants will discuss how to support the patient community through the development of therapies and systemic actions in the field of rare diseases, with a special focus on DYRK1A syndrome. Expert presentations will help participants learn more about the characteristics of the disorder and its diagnosis. The symposium will also provide an opportunity to talk with representatives of foundations working in the area of rare diseases.

Thanks to cooperation with the International DYRK1A Association US, perspectives for therapy development will also be presented by leading scientists from Canada and France. An important part of the event will be the presence of families of people with DYRK1A syndrome, who will share their experiences and everyday challenges.

The event is addressed to doctors, the academic community, and all those interested in the diagnosis and development of therapies for rare diseases, as well as anyone who believes that science should genuinely help improve quality of life.
