The Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw will serve as the hosting institution during the research internship. The scientific supervision of the scholarship holder will be provided by Dr Iwona Dembicz from the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection at the Institute of Environmental Biology.
Nadiia Skobel, MSc specializes in plant ecology and landscape analysis. Her research focuses on urban grassland areas – their structure, connectivity, and role as potential habitats for endangered meadow plant species. She applies advanced GIS tools and the Nature-based Solutions approach in her studies.
The aim of the scholarship is to assess the biodiversity of unused grassland areas in Warsaw and determine whether they can serve as refuges for rare meadow species. The scholarship holder is developing competencies in landscape modelling and spatial analysis and co-organises the City Nature Challenge initiative.
