Faculty of Biology at the University of Warsaw at the 28th Science Picnic

“That’s Cosmic!” is the theme of the 28th Science Picnic organized by Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre, which will take place on Saturday, May 10, at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw.
All visitors will have the opportunity to take part in science shows prepared by researchers from the Faculty of Biology at the University of Warsaw. Faculty staff, PhD candidates, and students have prepared a range of attractions showcasing that part of the world where astronomy meets the science of living organisms.
We invite you to visit booth 09 in the Life Zone. The event starts at 11:00 AM and continues until 8:00 PM. Admission is free.
The Faculty of Biology has prepared a variety of demonstrations. Visitors will learn why astronauts take algae into space. You will be able to explore what microorganisms exist on space stations and how to grow plants on other planets. There will also be “aliens among us”—amazing organisms that live on our own planet. Extremophiles, capable of surviving in nearly space-like conditions, will be on display. Scientists will also explore the brain structures of various unexpected animals.
Brave visitors can come face to face with “aliens inside us”—parasites. The Science Picnic is also a great opportunity to explore Earth’s history, with exhibits of fossils and reconstructions of extinct organisms. There will even be a chance to reflect on the consequences of an asteroid impact.
We also invite you to take part in a cosmic scavenger hunt! The booth will be enriched with a photo exhibition, creating a unique atmosphere for our presentations.
