University of Warsaw Botanical Garden – 2025 Season Opening

We warmly invite you to the season opening at the University of Warsaw Botanical Garden on Sunday, March 23, at 10:00 AM.

After celebrating fiber and dye plants, a fragrant year, and a botanical detective theme, it’s time for the next edition of “Practical Botanical”. In 2025, the Botanical Garden will explore nature through the eyes of artists. Artists perceive the world differently, and this unique perspective will guide us along the garden’s paths throughout the year.

As part of the Artist Residency Program, the Botanical Garden will welcome artists in collaboration with the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art. The Garden aims to support artists who explore, interpret, and share their personal experiences of nature, offering fresh and creative perspectives on the natural world.

Following previous years’ traditions, a series of scientific lectures is planned—this time focusing on the role of plants in art. The opening lecture, titled “The Garden of Art, Art in the Garden – What Do Artists Do in Botanical Gardens?”, will take place on March 27 at 6:00 PM, and will be delivered by professor Marcin Zych, director of the University of Warsaw Botanical Garden.

As part of our regular “Nature Weekends”, we invite visitors to participate in themed botanical walks, where they will discover plants that have inspired artists across different disciplines—painting, music, architecture, and literature.
For our youngest guests, we have planned a plein-air painting workshop, followed by an outdoor exhibition, along with creative family activities  incorporating artistic elements. A variety of workshops will be offered, teaching techniques to capture and preserve nature’s beauty, including: cyanotype printing, monotype printing, collage art, botanical herbariums, embroidery inspired by nature, floral arrangement art.

The Artistic Botanical program will culminate in September with the ZBIORY Festival—a celebration of botanical themes in art and culture. The festival will feature: a craft fair showcasing handmade art, a special theatrical performance, botanical walks and interactive activities. Join us throughout the year to explore nature through the lens of art!

The University of Warsaw Botanical Garden will be open daily, including holidays, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Ticket offices will be open until 5:00 PM. Last entry at 5:20 PM. Greenhouses will be closed on Mondays.
