Jubilee 15th Night of Biologists at the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw
21 01 2026
On Friday, 16 January 2026, the Faculty of Biology at the University of Warsaw hosted the jubilee 15th Night of Biologists. The event was coordinated by Dr Katarzyna Socha from the Biology Education Unit. This year’s edition was held under the motto: “Biology Full of Signals – Discover How Life Speaks”.
The five-hour, intensive meeting with scientists was opened by the Dean, Professor Krzysztof Spalik, together with the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, Dr Takao Ishikawa. The many visitors could learn, among other things, how animals and plants spend the winter, whether bats communicate with each other (and what about), whether everyone sleeps at night, and they could also explore the “language” and senses of ticks, hear a botanical review of the game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and find out what happens in biologists’ laboratories.
During the event, a wide range of activities was prepared for guests, including lectures, workshops, interactive sessions, an exhibition, and an escape room. Participants could also watch the film “Over Coffee About Coffee”, recorded in the Botanical Garden. In total 490 people took part in the event.
The Night of Biologists was not only a chance to gain knowledge, but also to meet scientists in person and discover biology from a new, inspiring perspective. We would like to thank all our guests, and we are already looking forward to the next edition of the event.
