Funding for the SEED4EU+ project co-created by our researcher
22 12 2025
The project entitled “One Health across degree borders” has received one-year funding under the 3rd edition of the SEED programme, aimed at member universities of the 4EU+ European University Alliance. The project is carried out in cooperation with research teams from four European universities.
The main project coordinator is Prof. Camilla Luzzago from the University of Milan, while one of the local coordinators is Dr Monika Hejna representing the University of Warsaw. The project consortium also includes Charles University in Prague and Heidelberg University.
The project covers the following research areas: human medicine, veterinary medicine, animal science, environmental science, public health, biology, biotechnology, economics, and epidemiology.
The aim of the project is the co-design of shared courses and/or modules across degree programs using the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) methodology to the One Health approach. COIL can be embedded into regular courses, or offered as electives.
This innovative methodology ensures equitable access to global learning for students through virtual mobility. COIL is particularly suitable for addressing One Health issues and facilitating comparisons of different health and environmental scenarios in EU countries and potentially worldwide. Human, animal, and environmental health are closely linked, so collaboration across different disciplines is key to addressing challenges such as the emergence of infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and food safety.
COIL is developed through a learner-centred, case-based approach that encourages interaction among students based on their different degree background and countries. This approach helps students acquire problem-solving and critical thinking skills. This proposal is addressed to master’s and long cycle-degree programs.
We warmly congratulate the team on receiving the funding and wish them a successful implementation of the project goals!
