XXXV Economic Forum with the participation of our Vice-Dean for Research Organization, Dr hab. Anna Ajduk, University Professor

From 8 to 10 September 2026, the 35th Economic Forum is taking place in Karpacz. It is one of the largest socio-economic events in Central and Eastern Europe. This year’s Forum is held under the theme “Architecture of a New Order – Stability in Times of Change”, and the University of Warsaw is an academic partner of the event. The Forum brings together representatives of science, business, public administration and politics, and its programme includes more than 500 debates.

On the first day of the Forum, 8 September, the University of Warsaw Zone hosted the debate “Research University – Innovation, Implementation and Social Impact”. The meeting focused on the role of research universities and on the importance of innovation, the implementation of research results and the social impact of science. The debate opened a series of meetings organised in the University of Warsaw Zone during this year’s Forum.

The panel was hosted by Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Warsaw. The discussion featured Prof. Anna Ajduk, Vice-Dean for Research Organization at the Faculty of Biology. Alongside her, the discussion also featured Prof. Agata Bareja-Starzyńska, Dean of the Faculty of Asian and African Studies, Prof. Renata Włoch, Scientific Director of DELab UW, Prof. Sławomir Sęk, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, and Dr Robert Sot, Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling.

The participation of a representative of the Faculty of Biology in the debate on research universities is part of a wider discussion on how research results can be turned into innovation, practical applications and real social impact, including advances in medicine. These topics are particularly important in the context of this year’s evaluation of scientific activity, in which biological sciences at the University of Warsaw received scientific category A.
