Student with disabilities
In accordance with the provisions of the Law on Higher Education, ensuring conditions that enable persons with disabilities to fully participate in the educational process and in scientific research is one of the fundamental tasks of higher education institutions.
Since 1990, the University of Warsaw has been undertaking actions aimed at adapting its educational offer to the needs of students with disabilities and chronic illnesses. The inclusion of students with disabilities in the study process at the University of Warsaw is based on removing barriers while maintaining academic standards. The solutions offered must not lower substantive requirements or interfere with the key elements of courses.
In order to guarantee persons with disabilities the necessary forms of support, in 2000 the Rector of the University of Warsaw established the Office for Persons with Disabilities. In 2013, the authorities of the Faculty of Biology appointed a representative for students with disabilities.
