Laboratory of Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry

The Laboratory of Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry is equipped with instruments for high-performance liquid chromatography and ion chromatography, as well as a range of detectors. These include the Synapt G2 HDMS hybrid mass spectrometer, which enables proteomic analyses, as well as conductivity and electrochemical detectors.

The Laboratory routinely performs identification and quantitative analysis of proteins after trypsin digestion, as well as analyses of metabolites involved in glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, the Krebs cycle, nucleotides, monosaccharides, and photosynthetic pigments.

The Laboratory is not limited to standard analytical methods. If an analysis has been performed using equipment similar to that available in the Laboratory and the method is described in the scientific literature, an attempt can be made to implement it. The Laboratory also develops entirely new analytical methods when there are reasonable grounds to do so.

Scope of Services

1. Analysis of various types of samples using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with different detectors listed below, including MS/MS detection.
2. Implementation and verification of analytical methods described in the scientific literature, provided that the available equipment is suitable.
3. Determination of glycolysis and Krebs cycle metabolites in biological material.
4. Determination of selected inorganic anions in aqueous solutions.
5. Determination of photosynthetic pigments.
6. Identification and quantitative determination of proteins after trypsin digestion.
7. Determination of sugars using ion chromatography with electrochemical detection.
8. Determination of the masses of low- and high-molecular-weight compounds and their fragmentation spectra, provided that the compounds can be analysed using electrospray ionisation.
