  1. Molecular mechanisms of maize susceptibility to cold
    • comparative analysis of expression pattern in seedling of two maize inbred lines under chilling conditions (microarrays)
    • identification of genes involved in differential response to chilling in two maize inbred lines (quantitative RT-PCR)
    • bioinformatical analysis of of nucleotide sequences for potential regulatory regions of selected genes
    • re-sequencing of genomes of several maize inbred lines
  2. Endogenous circadian clock in maize
    • expression pattern of genes involved in regulation of circadian clock in maize
  3. Transport of assimilates in plants:
    • short- and long-distance transport of assimilates in C4 plants
    • phloem loading in grasses
    • kinetic properties of sucrose transporters from higher plants (heterologous expression in yeast)
    • transport of organic compounds from kernel to developing maize leaves
  4. Hormonal regulation of plant morphogenesis in cell cultures:
    • regulation of secondary metabolite biosynthesis in plant cell cultures
    • cell and tissue cultures of monocotyledon plants
